Real Estate Data Services - New Website Launched
Real Estate Data Services came to DH WEB to convert their outdated MicroSoft Access database driven website to a MySQL Relational Database system. Converting the existing site from MS Access to MySQL was no easy task. The original database contained close to a million records that had to be exported and imported into the new database, search functions, data display, database queries, member information, layout, functionality and more all had to be custom coded by DH WEB.
Along with the database migration DH WEB also eCommerce enabled the site to process in real-time reoccurring credit cards payments for their members.
The new website was also given a completely new clean and professional design. The site was moved to a custom DH WEB database server. Email services and all web hosting is also now being provided by DH WEB.

Since their introduction nearly twenty years ago, Real Estate Data Services has achieved their Mission by maintaining a comprehensive real property sales database for Cumberland, Adams, Berks, Perry, Franklin, Dauphin, Lebanon and York counties. Sales records are updated using property sales reports produced for public distribution by each county's Tax Assessment Office. These sales reports include essential information such as the buyer, seller, parcel number, address, deed reference, price, assessed value, sale date, building size and acreage for sold properties. Use Codes, which describe the style or most recent use for a parcel of real estate, are also present on a sales report. REDS applies a standard list of use codes to the tens of thousands of commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential properties sold annually in our area. Each category of information can be thoroughly explored using our online Search Filter. Even first time users will quickly be doing their own "data mining" with this easy to use search interface.
DH WEB Supports The Hagerstown Rotary Literacy Initiative by Donating a New Website Design, Online Registration and Web Hosting to The Task Force
DH WEB is very proud to help support The Hagerstown Rotary Literacy Initiative. DH WEB recently designed a brand new website to facilitate online registration for the Rotary Summit on Childhood Literacy that took place on May 3 at Hagerstown Community College.
The Hagerstown Rotary Literacy Initiative advocates for a community-wide collaboration to increase the number of students entering school ready to learn and decrease the number of elementary students experiencing summer learning loss.
Rotarians are business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. A Rotary club contains a diverse group of professional leaders from the community that the club serves. The Rotary Club of Hagerstown is one of five Rotary Clubs in Washington County. Started in 1915 and with over 170 members, it is the oldest and largest of these clubs. Included among its members are many well regarded, recognized, and respected community, business and service leaders.

The Johnson U.S. Map Project Reference Tool Website - Featuring a DH WEB Custom Developed Database for Historical Maps
DH WEB is very proud to announce the recent launch of a custom new mapping reference tool website for The Johnson U.S. Map Project.
G.Curtis, from the University of Kentucky Libraries Map Collection, recently had this to say regarding The Johnson U.S. Map Project website:
"I just cataloged a Johnson and Ward map yesterday and had to guess at the date. So, I tried your web site and found that I was correct. Only wish I had known about it sooner. It is now in my cataloging tools favorites list. Thanks so much!"
Through the use of a custom DH WEB designed database, the Johnson U.S. Map Project has created a data set of the changes within the U.S. and state maps of the Alvin J. Johnson's /Family Atlas/ which allows the users of this website to definitively date the publication of any loose U.S. map from these atlases, which were published between the years 1860-87.
Also presented are historical essays on the life of Johnson and his atlases and his relationship with other 19th Century American Atlas publishers, J.H. Colton and Augustus Mitchell.
The Johnson U.S. Map Project represents the work of Ira S. Lourie. He has presented his work on Johnson and his atlases to the Washington Map Society and has been published in the Map Society’s journal, the Portolan.
In creating the database for the Johnson U.S. Map Project, Ira S. Lourie has studied over 85 Johnson Family Atlases from 9 libraries, 4 private collections, and several pre-auction exhibitions. Numerous loose atlas maps have also been studied including a large collection at the Library of Congress.
